Who Are We?

We are a club of about 20 members and our flying activities are based out of the De Winton/South Calgary Airport. At its inception in 1940 it was a training airfield called RCAF DeWinton and was a training field for airmen destined to fly overseas during WW2.

Our club interests are mainly focused on flying radio controlled sailplanes. Launch methods include winch launching or onboard electric motors. The end result is the fascinating pastime of finding and exploiting rising air currents also known as 'thermals'. There is always a competitive spirit at the field and our members strive to enhance their ability to exploit lift and soar with the hawks.

If you are interested in the sport of Silent Flight, our club would be interested in meeting you!
